What’s been happening around the office at Cusp Dental Boutique? Dr.Hamlin and our team have been busy and we’re not even done with 2023 yet! The office has been buzzing with everything from dental technology to engagements to holiday planning and we want to give you a peek at it all.
January started the year off strong with Dr. Hamlin participating in the 2023 Dental Days at the Capitol in Richmond, VA - what a pivotal and important day to be part of. Having a say and a stance in the world is important and we were honored to be present for this one.
February held a focus of improvement, new skills, and extra training to bring our patients the best techniques and technologies in the dental space. Dr. Hamlin was able to participate in the Cosmetic Flowable Composite Technique Course held by Katie To. In this hands-on course, Dr. Hamlin learned how it’s possible to give patients a new smile while removing virtually no tooth structure. It was an incredible time at the event itself and the knowledge gained is here to stay and serve your family. (Plus, there’s a plaque, who doesn’t love a plaque when it’s not on your teeth).
March is…drumroll, please! Dr. Hamlin’s birthday month! Office decorations, time with her family, and all the things she loves - we’re so thankful for Dr. Hamlin! Her love for dentistry and her love for this community is unmatched. She’s a big fan of celebrating all month long (c’mon, what’s not to celebrate making it another year?), so we’re sure she wouldn’t even mind a belated birthday wish if you missed it *wink*
April is the month an engagement ring was put on our Office Manager, Renee’s, hand! Woo! Sound the bells, throw the confetti, we are so happy for her! On that exciting note, we also welcomed a new Hygienist to the squad (hey Amanda!) and an ax-throwing outing with the team was planned (no injuries were incurred). We saw some amazing smile transformations from some amazing patients and the AACD held its 39th Annual AACD Scientific Session in Grapevine, Tx. Whew, what a month.
May was an unforeseen month as Dr. Hamlin’s father, Dr. Tutuh, unexpectedly passed away. If you’ve heard Dr. Hamlin talk about him, you know it was through her father’s passion, encouragement, and guidance that she followed in his footsteps and became a dentist. We have him to thank for the incredible practitioner she is. We are grateful for the families who support our practice and our team personally, so thank you. You can read more about Dr. Tutuh and see a few sweet photos on our team page.
June was a month for a whole lot more training - OSHA, HIPPA, and CPR…so many acronyms, oh my! Here’s a quick tutorial - Congress created the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure safe working conditions for employees. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) is a federal law that requires the creation of national standards to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient's consent or knowledge. (Pssst it’s why you shouldn’t tell us your deepest darkest secrets on Instagram!). And CPR training, well, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is important to stay on top of, we want to make sure you’re safe and taken care of no matter what may happen.
July We welcomed 2, yes 2 new squad members! Say hello to Andria aka Andi aka A3 and Caitlin. Andi is a registered Dental Assistant from FL (her husband is in the Navy) and Caitlin is a local that we have heard raving things about. Caitlin is upfront and has the awesome smile you will see when you first walk into our office. We are happy to have them both!
We are excited to celebrate Angela as she had her first Cuspiversary! She has helped so many patients for the better over the past year and saved them from having to lose teeth and we cannot be happier. What’s coming up in August? Well, it’s something you’ll want to add to your calendar - Patient Appreciation Day! Our team will be hosting an incredible cookout and we want you to be there! (Or be square). Food, drinks, music, games, block your schedule, on August 12th, 2023 from 1:00-4:00, we’ll see you there!
September is a mix of fun and not-as-fun, so strap in. This is the month Dr. Hamlin will travel back to Ghana to be with her family to bury and celebrate her father’s life. He was a practicing dentist and it’s what got Dr. Hamlin interested, we’re wishing her well as she spends time there and we hold down the fort! Take a look at Dr. Tutuh practicing back in the day!It happens to be Office Manager Appreciation Month as well as National Gum Care Month (and you know we’re all about those gums!) We are big fans of Renee and we know you are, too, so stop in and give her a high five, a smile, or a thank you for everything she does for us! And hey, if you’re avoiding our office because of pain, discoloration, or discomfort in your gums, schedule your appointment so we can check it out. Keeping your gums healthy is important and we want to keep you on the straight and narrow!
October is another fun month - our very own Dr. Zaneta Hamlin is being inducted as a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy which is an international honorary dental service organization. Woah! She blows our minds. She’ll be honored on October 7th at the ADA meeting in Orlando, Florida!
Also, CUSP TURNS 2 on October 25th!!
November brings all things Fall - thanksgiving, cozy weekends, and of course getting your last check-ups and appointments in before the year comes to a close and your dental insurance runs out. There, we said it! Come see us sooner rather than later and avoid the holiday rush into the office, though we absolutely love seeing your faces.
December will be the end of our time together…in 2023! What a year. As always we will be closed the last week of December. Thank you for trusting our team to care for you and your family - we don’t take that responsibility lightly.
And there you have it, a look at what’s been going on and what’s coming up for this year at Cusp Dental Boutique. Thanks for being with us on this wild ride!
